The trail to Comet Falls is in good condition, with no snow reported as of September 6. The road is suitable for all vehicles. Some minor erosion has made parts of the trail a bit more challenging, particularly a few instances of difficult ascents and descents due to this erosion, noted as of August 28 and August 10. Deteriorating wooden structures on the trail were also mentioned in August 10. Wildflowers were blooming in late August, with asters being the last of the season around August 10. A large, deceased mountain goat was found across Van Trump Creek near the higher viewpoint of the falls as of August 28. The small Comet Falls trailhead parking area can fill up, with cars sometimes parked precariously nearby, as of August 10.
