Franklin Falls - Winter

Snoqualmie Region

updated 2 weeks ago

As of March 9, 2026, Franklin Falls is experiencing patchy and packed snow, with little to no traction needed on the main trail, and the waterfall itself is not frozen. The road to the trailhead requires a Sno-Park permit, and while parking was available by the closed road on March 9th, it has been reported as easy in other February and January reports.

Snow accumulation on the road is minimal, with more noticeable snow, around 3 inches, closer to the bridge and trail. While some reports from January (e.g., Jan 25, Jan 16, Jan 15) strongly recommended microspikes or crampons due to icy conditions, more recent reports in February and March suggest they are not necessary. Disagreements exist regarding traction needs. A port-a-potty is available at the parking area.
