Green Mountain - Gold Creek Trail

Olympic Peninsula

updated 2 days ago

As of early May 2026, the Green Mountain - Gold Creek Trail is largely dry with only occasional mud patches. Expect the trail to be moderately busy, with shared use by dirt bikes, hikers, and dogs (both leashed and unleashed). While the trail itself is generally in good shape, be mindful of tree roots and slippery rocks, especially on the descent.

Parking is plentiful at the trailhead, though it can fill up by mid-afternoon on sunny weekends. Reports from February indicate light rain and snow, but no accumulation. Road access is paved. Signage can be confusing in some areas, so consider bringing a map. Some hikers prefer earlier views of the Olympic Mountains over the Seattle vistas from the top.

I hadn’t done this hike in years, and I continue to think it’s “just ok.” Of course, I was fogged in at the top, so that might have contributed to my mixed feelings. Also contributing to those mixed fe...
