High Divide - Seven Lakes Basin Loop

Olympic Peninsula

updated 6 months ago

As of February 16, 2026, current conditions for the High Divide - Seven Lakes Basin Loop are unknown due to a lack of recent reports.

However, trip reports from September 2025 indicate:

  • Trail: Generally well-maintained, with some sections featuring stone stairs. An "unmaintained" shortcut near Lunch Lake was avoided by one group in favor of the main High Divide trail for views.
  • Roads/Parking: Sol Duc Trailhead had ample parking in the mornings during September 2025.
  • Privies: Conditions varied. Sol Duc Park and Heart Lake privies were reported as usable, while Lunch Lake was overflowing, and Deer Lake had a "brand-new" updated privy.
  • Wildlife: Multiple bear sightings were common along the High Divide trail, particularly near Heart Lake. Deer and grouse were also reported.
  • Vegetation: Berries (blueberries, huckleberries) were abundant and ripe in early to mid-September 2025, with a "super bloom" noted. Fall colors were starting to appear in late September.
