The Lakes Trail on Mount St. Helens has seen recent maintenance, with downed trees removed and stream crossings made easier as of August 29. However, some sections remain brushy and overgrown, particularly after leaving Coldwater Lake towards Shovel Lake, making footing difficult at times. Volunteers have been working to address washouts and overgrown areas July 23. The road is generally suitable for all vehicles, though parking can be limited at trailheads.
