The East Side Loop of Squak Mountain is in good condition, with the initial section being somewhat brushy. Trail maintenance efforts have made the Old Griz trail accessible again after significant damage from a windstorm in November 2024. Areas are now growing lush with understory plants, including abundant Salal and Oregon Grape berries. A black bear was observed approximately 200 feet below the Bullitt Fireplace trail on August 16. The road is suitable for all vehicles and there were no reported bugs as of August 16.
