The White River trail presents a mixed bag of conditions, with significant blowdowns still being cleared by volunteer efforts. As of July 24, the first 3.5 miles had seen considerable work, with most trees cleared except for two easy step-overs, though the trail is not yet ready for stock. Further work was reported on July 20, clearing logs up to 2.3 miles, with additional, unspecified clearing occurring after that date. However, reports from July 9 and July 11 indicate numerous logs, some quite large, requiring clambering over, under, and around, with sections being overgrown. The road to the trailhead is rough, especially the last 1.5 miles, with significant ruts and a large rut across the road about 1.1 miles from pavement end, requiring careful driving and potentially an SUV. Mosquitoes were reported as terrible on July 11, but not too bad as of July 24 and July 9.

The road is rough, particularly in the last 1.5 miles, with numerous ruts from washouts. There is a very large rut across the road about 1.1 miles from the end of pavement, marked with orange flagging, that requires staying on the uphill side to avoid vehicle damage. An SUV is recommended, but most cars should make it if driven very slowly, as of July 24.
There are still many downed trees on the trail, some quite large. While volunteer crews have been working to clear them, requiring clambering over, under, and around them, the trail is not fully cleared. As of July 24, the first 3.5 miles had most trees cleared except for two easy step-overs, but the trail is not ready for stock. Earlier reports from July 9 and July 11 indicate significant blowdowns throughout the initial sections.
