Barclay Lake

Central Cascades

updated 1 week ago

As of May 4th, 2026, the road to Barclay Lake is reported as "quite freshly graded" and easily passable for most vehicles, with no potholes noted on that date. The trail itself is undergoing cleanup from numerous downed trees. While some reports from April indicated "Blowdown Central" and difficulty for families, a report on May 4th states that Forest Service crews are actively clearing logs, with the trail expected to be clear by May 5th.

The main obstacle is the footbridge over Barclay Creek. Reports from April 10th and 11th described it as "scary-looking," "rickety," and "badly damaged." A notice posted on May 4th indicated the bridge was scheduled for demolition on May 5th, with an unknown replacement date, suggesting wading or rock hopping may be necessary. No snow or mosquitoes were reported as of May 4th.

Hey all. Went to hike Barclay lake today Jan 10 2026. The road is impassable to vehicles. I’m sad for this as it’s a great winter hike. It’s going to take some heavy equipment to repair the road.
