Heybrook Lookout

Central Cascades

updated 1 week ago

As of August 1st, 2026, Heybrook Lookout's trail is well-maintained and dry, though some reports describe it as steep with roots and rocks, making it challenging for beginners or young children. Parking was reported as packed on July 25th, but less so on a Friday mid-morning in late May. No restroom facilities are available, and hikers are reminded to pack out all trash and dog waste. Graffiti was noted near the lookout in late July, but some had been removed. The views from the lookout are considered worth the effort.

Steep trail in some parts, but take your time and plan out your route and you should be fine. The tree covering blocked some of the rain, which was great with our group of 7 kids (5 - 7 years old).

Tough uphill mile for us, but worth the effort.

First hike of the season, nice and short, but uphill switchbacks the entire way. Not too strenuous, but a little more of a workout than I was expecting! Got in at about 1030, parking (basically on the...

A short, steep but moderate trail in good condition to the tower. The stairs get you to the landing level below the actual watch tower, making it not quite an unobstructed view. Not the most scenic lo...

Trail in good condition. A little bit of water on trail, but not enough for my feet to get wet. A few flowers out but not many. Two or three bugs/bzzz, so not zero per se but closer to zero than “not ...
