Past the river crossing, the trail becomes significantly steeper, rockier, and more challenging, with some reports noting difficult boulder fields and overgrown sections R5, R11. The river crossing itself is typically wadeable, ranging from knee to thigh-deep, and hikers should be prepared to get their feet wet as the bridge is out R1,(https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/trip-reports/trip_report-2026-08-09.225540277680). Parking can be busy, especially on weekends, with reports of full lots and cars parked along the road R1, R9. Some areas, particularly around the lakes, can have limited flat camping spots R5. The bridge is out, and hikers should expect to wade across the river. The depth can range from knee to thigh-high, and it is advisable to be prepared to get your feet wet. As of September 19, the water was below knee-height and not moving fast.
Parking can be busy, particularly on weekends. On September 19, the lot was full by 9:30 AM, with cars parked along the road. On August 1, the lot was full upon arrival, but space became available later in the day.
