Hikers have noted camas, wild iris, bitterroot, phlox, lupine, balsam root, paintbrush, biscuitroot, largeflower triteleia, bluebells, and larkspur in bloom as of May 3, May 7, May 9, and May 11. The Westberg trail itself is described as steep and exposed with no shade, offering great views. The Boy Scout trail, in contrast, is more forested. No mud or dust was reported as of May 3, though rocky sections are present on the upper parts of the trail. Parking at the trailhead was adequate for early morning arrivals in early May.
