Naches Peak Loop

Mount Rainier Area

updated 6 days ago

As of June 21, 2026, the Naches Peak Loop remains significantly impacted by snow. Hikers starting counter-clockwise from Tipsoo Lake encountered challenging snow cover as early as 3/4 of a mile in on June 21st, with one report suggesting a miss-step could be dangerous.

Reports from June 20th and June 18th, hiking clockwise, indicate snow for the first approximately two miles after crossing SR 410, requiring careful navigation due to melting and potential holes. Some sections were muddy. While one report from June 14th noted patches of dry ground and some manageable snow up to the SR 410 bridge, the trail beyond the bridge was still snow-covered and slippery. The Tipsoo Lake loop itself also had considerable snow on June 14th. Parking at Tipsoo Lake can become busy later in the day.
