Summerland - Panhandle Gap
Mount Rainier Area
As of June 18, 2026, the Summerland trail to Panhandle Gap is largely snow-free from Summerland Meadows upwards, though early reports indicated snow. The Fryingpan Creek bridge is now in place and functional, a significant improvement from late May when it was out. However, the creek crossing exit is steep. Hikers report snow fields are present above Summerland, becoming soft and potentially unstable in the afternoon. While snow-free to the creek in mid-June reports, earlier dates mentioned snow patches before the crossing. Parking was full by 5:30 am on June 13th.
