The Wilderness Peak Loop is reported to be in good condition, with no snow as of June 25 and July 11. The road is suitable for all vehicles, and bugs were not a significant issue in late June and early July. Abundant berry bushes, including thimbleberries, native blackberries, salmonberries, and elderberries, were noted on July 11, providing a great snacking opportunity. Parking was about half full by 8:30 AM on a Saturday in early July. Be aware that unadvertised trail races can occur, requiring hikers to step aside for runners, as experienced on July 11.

Excellent a.m. hike. It was very peaceful and relaxing. We got to the parking lot around 9 and there was only one other car. By the time we got back the parking lot was full.
I did the loop as described by WTA: up the Gombu Cliffs trail and down via the Whittaker trail. That puts the steepest part of the climb at the beginning. If I were doing it strictly for scenery, I mi...
Very, very green on this misty Tuesday at Whittaker Wilderness peak. About a 4.5 mile loop. The first 1/2 mile (especially the first 1/4 mile) gains elevation at a rate of 900/feet/mile which always s...
