The Chewuch River Trail has experienced significant closures due to the Sinlahekin fire, impacting access from the west. As of August 6, the West Chewuch Road #51 was closed between Andrews Creek and Thirtymile Trailheads, and the Chewuch River Trail #510 itself was closed from the Thirtymile Trailhead to the junction with Lesamiz Trail #565. Reports from July 2 and July 4 mention obstacles such as trees down across the trail, muddy or wet sections, and overgrown areas. Despite these issues, the snow was reported as free as of July 2 and August 6, and intermittent snow was not difficult to cross on July 4. Bug activity was noted as an annoyance in early July and July 2.
