The trail to Deep Lake had a mix of conditions as of late July 2026. Reports from July 18 and July 17 noted numerous blowdowns, some requiring step-overs and others waist-to-chest high, particularly on the climb from Lemah Meadows up Escondido Ridge. The trail was also described as overgrown in places, with legs scratching easily. A bridge out at Waptus River (July 17) required using downstream rocks and logs for crossing, and a tricky stream crossing was noted about two miles south of Deception Pass on July 17. Mosquitoes were an annoyance, especially at Trap Lake and Mig on July 17, and also on July 18. The road to the trailhead was reported as suitable for all vehicles in both July 18 and July 17 reports. No snow was present as of these reports.
