Skookum Flats

Mount Rainier Area

updated 3 weeks ago

As of July 20, 2026, the Skookum Flats trail is accessible with several downed trees requiring step-overs and duck-unders, making it technically challenging for trail running. Reports from May 10th and 14th indicate recent work parties have cleared many obstacles, but some remain. The path to Skookum Falls is consistently described as steep and not recommended for those with mobility concerns. Road conditions appear manageable with some potholes. Parking was light on July 17th, but a work crew was present. Early May reports noted around 15 blowdowns, with two being particularly difficult.
