Mount Walker
Olympic Peninsula
As of June 13, 2026, Mount Walker's trail is in excellent condition, free of snow and mud. Recent reports from March and April note a single downed tree near the trailhead, easily stepped over, which was cleared by April 5th. The trail is consistently uphill, with reports from March and June confirming no significant obstacles.
Parking was not an issue on June 13th, with plenty of spots. The rhododendron bloom is mostly finished, though a few flowers were still visible in mid-June. The south viewpoint offers cleaner bathrooms with toilet paper, while the north viewpoint facilities are small and lack supplies. Both viewpoints are accessible by car, though the hike itself provides a good workout.

Started the hike around 12:30 PM. The first 2 miles are a steady, relentless climb with about 2,000 ft of elevation gain. After those 2 miles, you reach the North Viewpoint. It definitely makes you wo...
Did Mount Walker yesterday with our dog, carrying our 20 month old. Quite the quad killer! Still some rhododendrons blooming.
Clear trail. Great workout. A few rhodies blooming still
Our high-energy, short-attention-span four-year-old tends to get bored and whiny on flat, straight parts of trails… which meant that this was the perfect trail for her! No straight flat parts at all, ...

What a fantastic trail! My wife described it as “relentless” as we climbed up. My Apple Watch had the distance at 5.67 miles round trip to the north viewpoint with 1,980 ft of gain, so I’m not 100% su...

Another quick trail condition update: there is a sizable tree down across the trail about 1/4 mile from the trailhead. Otherwise, the trail was clear with a very light dusting of snow at the summit.
Just a quick update since my trip report last week: the trail is now snow-free start to finish (and otherwise in great shape).
I usually don't write a report when I take a trip up this one, because there's not often a lot to say about it. I thought I'd write this one, though, because I didn't expect any snow, and I wished I h...
